My work is inspired by the media's interpretation of the world and the world’s actual condition. I begin with media images because they represent a mutual experience we all share and already play an active role in shaping perception. Looking at the continual stream of visual information that deluges us on a daily basis I find extreme contrasts of value and meaning that are somehow treated equally. For me, these jarring yet arbitrary juxtapositions of politics, consumerism, violence, and sexuality need to be made more explicit so their meaning and impact on our lives can be felt and realized. It is my intent to illicit questions not answers to these situations. I manipulate these images to further transform them from something that was originally transient and ephemeral into something that is lasting and substantial.
